Your Wisconsin case law quote of the day
"[A]n appellate court is not a performing bear, required to dance to each and every tune played on an appeal."
State v. Waste Management of Wis., Inc., 261 N.W.2d 147, 151 (Wis. 1978).

Graftizzle 4 life
GRAFTON, Wis. -- About the town where I work:

"Maybe Grafton isn't the Rodney Dangerfield of the North Shore. But it sure lacks the cachet of a Whitefish Bay, a Mequon or even its closest neighbor, Cedarburg.

Milwaukee comedian John McGivern tells stories about how his mother, Joan, says she lives in Cedarburg, even though she really lives in Grafton."

Errybody on the radio gettin tipsy
Cl@rk Howard, syndicated (and dare I say nerdy) consumer radio talk show host, just used J-kwon's "Tipsy" as bump music out of his first commercial break. Get down, Clark.

And with that, let's have a blog update, shall we?

Work
Good! It's not as fun as the radio, BUT, it's good experience, and as I recall, my first few weeks here at the 50,000 watt love pump weren't 100% thrilling, either. My official title is "desk jockey."

Play
Went out with high school friends last night. Good times. Headed to BoCoMo next weekend...whoohoo!

That's all for now...

OSTW--5th News Minute
BROOKFIELD, Wis. -- Per usual, nothing to report here. Move from temporary apartment to permanent apartment is underway and 1/3 to 1/2 of the way complete. If you never got the address of the new place, you should get it from me, and then send me mail.

WAUKESHA, Wis. -- Leadership camp this weekend! This means I will be attempting to keep up with my own little group of 9 high school sophomores -- 252 total at the seminar -- from 7 p.m. Thursday until 3 p.m. Sunday. Each day generally runs from 6:00 a.m. until 12:00 midnight. This means by Sunday afternoon, I collapse.

BROOKFIELD, Wis.--URGENT--Some high school teenyboppers at the table across Starbucks have "Wonderwall" as their MP3 ringtone. They were probably 8 years old when "Wonderwall" came out. This is distressing.

GRAFTON, Wis. -- Called back for a second job interview tomorrow. As before, success is critical.

Call me evil, but I want one

Uncle Bob back in the news
It was either freshman or sophomore year at Mizzou, when the phone rang in 344 McDavid sometime after midnight on a Friday or Saturday night. Caller ID: blocked.

Hello?
Hey Woodward! Where's Bernstein?
*click*

And then five or ten-ish minutes later...

Hello?
Hey Woodward! Who's Deep Throat?
*click*

The Missouri J-School: Where even our prank calls are journalism related.

So nice to see that now there is an answer to that second question.
For the record, "Uncle Bob" isn't my uncle, nor any other relation to me, as far as I can tell, though my family has taken to referring to him as such. And, of course, just about every J-school professor I had couldn't resist asking "Any relation?" Every once in a while, if I was feeling mischevious, I would say, no, I'm no relation to Joanne. For the record, the only famous Woodward of relation is my sister Karin, who has a line or two in "Troop Beverly Hills" and an equivalent role in Episode #10 of "The Wonder Years."
